Amber Jewel with a Bug Inside
December 1997

When we added the Dean-style background to my right arm, Greg Kulz felt that it would obscure the Olias emblem too much if we had the squiggles going inside the design, so I left that part blank initially. After some thought, and a massive search through dozens of old National Geographic magazines at Mission Thrift, I found the right images of amber and went back to Greg.

I wanted the jewel to fill most of the space, and it had to have the suggestion of a bug inside. It goes well with the elemental sign from the Olias of Sunhillow album, and only people who recognize that part usually figure out the two pieces were not done at the same time.
