Greg had this abstract pattern on the wall, just a bit on one of the pages of his flash. He called it 'cosmic taffy' and I said I wanted it to look like part of my shoulder had cracked off and that this stuff was inside. The next morning when I woke up, the black part was raised up, the reverse of its supposed depth in the image. It was cool to touch it and watch the design flicker like an optical illusion.
I took off that day from work to get the tattoo, it was a Friday. It was a time when Greg was heavily in demand and you booked an appointment up to three months ahead. I was very excited that weekend because not only was I getting a new tattoo from Greg, but I also had another tattoo appointment back in Santa Cruz just two days later!
